Vincino is considering developing OLED technology for IT products such as tablets and laptops, sources said. The life span of IT products is about five years, which is longer than the two to three years replacement cycle of smart phones. For OLED used in IT products, the "double stack series" structure is more advantageous.
Vicino plans to invest in IT OLED line with double stack series structure. IT is understood that the 6th generation (1500x1850mm) adopts half-cut vertical deposition, and the 8.6 generation (2250x2600mm) is considering half-cut deposition technology. This year, line 6 will be installed on Hefei V3 line, and the candidate area for line 8.6 will be chengdu or Shenzhen. IT is understood that Vicino has asked domestic and foreign equipment manufacturers to review the equipment needed to produce the 8TH generation OLED for IT.
According to the report, Vicino is expected to mass-produce or verify OLED technology for IT in the 6th generation first, and then move to the 8.6 generation technology. Samsung Display, LGD and BOE all plan to mass produce SIX-generation OLED, and then respond to eight-generation OLED in the future, as there is no precedent for such an eight-generation OLED. So far, 6-inch smartphone OLeds have been produced in line 6, but 10 to 20-inch tablet/notebook OLeds have a strong economic advantage in line 8.
In addition, supply chain news has repeatedly reported that Vicino has supplied many products to famous brand customers such as Honor, ZTE, Xiaomi, OPPO, Vivo, Nubia, Huami, Fitbit, MOTOROLA and so on.
It is reported that in recent years, the trend of flexible AMOLED applications from small size to medium size is gradually obvious, and the demand for medium size such as tablet, laptop and car is growing rapidly. Omdia expects AMOLED to account for about 15 percent of mid-size demand by 2024 and 20 percent by 2025.
Vicino has previously said that the company will actively respond to the AMOLED medium size market demand, will build advanced high-generation mass production line, carry out high-potential technological innovation integration, provide customers with advanced product solutions, expand the medium size application field. In the direction of technology research and development, Vicino medium size products will change the existing product form, expand more new forms and new application scenarios, and focus on low weight, high life, low power consumption, integration and high quality terminal demand, is expected to launch a new generation of medium size innovation products soon.
